Northern Virginia Family Photographer - Expecting!

I just love this family. This is the second time I have had the chance to photograph them and this year I get to do it twice! We met a few weeks ago for a maternity/family session to document their family as it gets ready to grow and I will see them in just a couple weeks to meet the newest member. I'm so excited about that!

Thanks for coming out and seeing me. As always, it was a pleasure and I am looking forward to seeing you and meeting your new little one very soon.

How cute is this sweet face?!?

I told mom that I love it when couples will take a few moments out and pose for pictures. When was the last time you did this with your love? If you say your wedding and it was more than five years ago, I think it is time! Let's set something up.

She loves her new baby already.

Northern Virginia Photographer - Snowmaggedon!

We have had snow, snow and more snow around here. Two blizzards in one week has crippled the Metropolitan DC area. The kids haven't been in school for two weeks and moms are going CRAZY!!!! Luckily for me it has been pretty much life as usual around here. Except for the bonus of having a husband that gets to stay home when the Federal Government is closed, we are doing fine.

AND who knew that we would have a little one that absolutely LOVES going out in the snow? As soon as we go out she greets it like a long lost friend. Literally falling down into it as if to give it a big hug, kiss and an occasional lick. I mean isn't that how we all great our long lost friends. :)

Here are some pictures that I have taken over the past two weeks. I hope you are staying nice and warm wherever you are.

This is the snow on the railing of our deck as it was starting to fall off. We measured almost 30 inches of snow out there at one point and that was before approximately another 6-8 inches fell.

This is a tree that I could not stop looking at. I love the harsh look of all the snow caked on the branches.

Our Snow Bunny! These were taken last week when the snow was much easier to walk through.

Next time we will hopefully get her to open her eyes on the toboggan.

And Finally, The SUN!!!

{Northern Virginia Family Photographer} Sweet "R"

Yesterday I had such a fun session with this family. They won a free session with me by posting a timely comment on my blog. This little one is two days younger than my little one so I knew what I was in for. I wore my sneakers and was ready to get my workout in chasing her around with my big ole' camera. Well, she took it easy on me and was as sweet as could be. After a few choruses of "The Wheels on the Bus" and several helpings of Goldfish, she was good to go and I think had just as much fun as I did.

Thanks Mom and Dad for meeting me at this new location. I hope you'll agree that they turned out great. I can't wait for you to see the whole gallery.

{Northern Virginia Photographer} Winner!

Yesterday morning I met with the grand daughter of my latest session winner at the US Botanic Gardens on Capital Hill in downtown Washington, D.C. I had never done a session down there and was looking forward to finding great little areas that I could use location ideas in the future. Capital Hill is a beautiful place and we couldn't have asked for nicer weather. You see, we had previously scheduled our session for the evening before but we were rained out. My family was only in town for the weekend and we had to try and make this happen before they got in the car for their two and a half hour ride home.

I expected a little ball of energy and that is exactly what I got. Little Miss "L" is exactly one day younger than my little one and it was so fun to see the similarities in their behavior. I got lots of "no's", shaking of heads, running in the opposite direction and a few tears. But in between it all I also got some really great shots. And true to form, a little candy can also work wonders in getting a little cooperation from an almost two year old.

Thanks for a great morning "C" family. Enjoy your sneak peak.

(Oh and dad, sorry your team got spanked by the Nationals. :)

Follow Up {Northern Virginia Family Photographer}

I recently had a session with Little Miss K and posted one picture from that session here on the blog. I promised you a few more, so here they are. Aren't those lips to die for???

I never would have had this session if it wasn't for the referral of a dear friend of mine and fellow photographer, Stephanie Johnson. I have known Stephanie for years. We were roommates back in the day and I even sang in her wedding. It is great to have friends in the same industry who can look out for you and refer client when appropriate. Thanks Steph!
